The cost of the unlived faith
Good Friday always stops me in my tracks. I think about the heaviness of the cross. The depth of Jesus sacrifice. The gratitude I feel is overwhelming. He gave His life, His comfort, His very body so that I could live freely. The magnitude of that surrender reshapes the way I see my life, my choices, and my purpose.
The Bible says faith without action is dead. The cost of faith that is believed but not lived is expensive. It becomes a life of lost potential. A quiet emptiness in the heart, always seeking the next distraction to fill it. The world may see nothing amiss, but faith that is unlived leaves a void that only surrender can fill. A surrendered life opens the door to all that God has for us. Good Friday reminds me that faith is not just belief. Because even the devil believes God exists. True faith saturates your life. All the cracks and crevices of your moments. Its in every decision, every action. Its transforming and purposeful.
Our faith is not meant to sit quietly in the heart. It is meant to move, to act, to refine. True faith, like Jesus, changes us. It guides our choices, and opens the door to the life God has for us. This Easter, lets not settle for belief alone. But instead live fully, letting His guidance shape every part of our lives.
Friday is good. But thank you Jesus, Sunday is coming!
James 2:14-20 (ESV)
14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe and shudder! 20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?
